16 Months

Friends and Fam:

The other Elders in Ft Stockton ended up staying with us for almost an entire week! Just recently they moved out of our apartment and into their trailer in Iraan TX. The new Elder that moved into the trailer is absolutely disgusted by how small and trashy it is. The other Elder (Elder Wardell) was trained in the trailer and doesn't know any different, so he virtually never complains. We get lots of calls from his comp complaining that he's stubbed his toes so many times because the trailer is so small, so he just started wearing shoes around the trailer, or that he accidentally hit his head on the shower curtain, or that the shower water is so cold that he can't think after he gets out. It's hilarious... we do everything we can to help him, but honestly, they need to just chunk the trailer. Our apartment was trashed after the other Elders moved out, so this week will include a lot of cleaning.

Transfers ended up happening on Saturday, instead of tomorrow (Tuesday), so we are back in our own areas with our new companions. Saturday was kinda crazy. We drove up to Midland, dropped Elder Garey off and helped Assistant Stringham load the trailer up full of missionary suitcases. We filled it full with bikes and luggage, then he drove them up to amarillo in the mission van. After I dropped E Garey off, I picked up my new comp, E Lund, and headed back to Ft. Stockton. Lund is from Washington... near Seattle... we came out with each other, and already knew each other really well, so the adjustment wasn't really much of the adjustment.

New Years Eve was a lot of fun! We went bowling with the other elders here in Ft. Stockton, and the senior couple came too. The bowling alley was inside of a theater. My 'straight laced' companion was terrified to be in there. He was really uncomfortable the whole time haha. Don't get me wrong, it's good to be straight laced, but it was really hard for him to relax or have a good time at first. It was hilarious. We played like two games of bowling and got to bed early.

Not too much happened this week... I'm learning how to teach SUPER simply. We're teaching a few older investigators who have a super hard time understanding our message. We have had to learn to teach them like children. It's hard, but I'm learning a lot. We started bringing Earl Buchanan (Our Recent Convert) to lessons this week. We had him testify about the book of mormon in a lesson, and he was more nervous than any other member I've seen... but once we got out of the lesson, he was STOKED! He exclaimed, "That was AWESOME!" after exiting the apartment we had just taught in. He was happier than a tornado in a trailer park.

Things will be fun next week. We've got MLC in Lubbock, and a lot more progressing investigators. I'll tell y'all more about them once we teach them more. Love y'all!
