The Weekly
This week I had the worst sore throat of my life. Apparently I have these things in my throat called tonsils, and apparently they were infected, and apparently I got blisters in my throat from the infection. To make things worse, my nurse was super cute, and I got all nervous and messed up on the paperwork like 3 times because she was making me uncomfortable ughghghg I'm so awkward around girls it's killing me.
Elder Allen and I are doing preeeetty good. He's super different than me, and we have to sit down and talk things through sometimes, but luckily I'm pretty close with a few of the assistants and other zone leaders, so I have them to call whenever I need help. Overall, he's not too bad. He does a great job ministering to the zone and helping them feel our love. It creates a lot of trust through-out the zone. I'm doing my best to learn everything I can from Elder Allen.
We helped out at Bingo again this week. I helped out the Spanish Speakers again, but then they all had to go to the bathroom, and they took so long that by the time they got back, bingo was over lol. So I ended up talking to an old lady named Ms. Hazel. She's a character. The other day she was complaining about the staff and the temperature of the room. I started teasing her, telling her she should run for president of the Senior Center. She told me to go to hell, but it's been a running joke ever since.
We also traveled to Lubbock for the MLC (Missionary Leadership Counsel) with the district leaders of our zone. It was really really good. I learned a lot about leadership, and have been given responsibility to relay a lot of the same messages to the rest of our missionaries at Zone Training that we have tomorrow. It's all about getting back to the basics. It'll be good.
It was good to be back in lubbock again. We stopped at a restaurant called Torchy's Tacos. It was one of the best taco shops I've ever been to. It's a close second behind Tacos El Gordo. If only it weren't on campus... or if only the girls on campus wore more clothes. Girls make me so uncomfortable.
We stayed the next night in Odessa with the ZLs over there. We played sports with them that morning and drove back to Ft. Stockton... excuse me Historical Fort Stockton. We ate sourdough pancakes at the Wells (The senior couple here) and got back home.
The next day we had church and a sweet potluck after, but someone complained that not everyone helped clean up, so I think that was our last potluck for a while... This is why we can't have nice things.
At MLC my thoughts were directed back to Volleyball practices and how much we focused on the fundamentals... that's really what we need to start doing with missionary work... Leonardo Davinci said, " Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." I plan to strive to get better at teaching simply, and focusing more on the simple Doctrines of Christ through out my last bit of my mission.
That's all for this week. Loves.
Elder Johnson
