Nerf Arsenal

THE WEEKLY
Hey, guess what? After 5 months of labor aqui en Historical Ft. Stockton, TX, we're finally helping another couple get baptized. John and Karisha Gonzales are preparing to be baptized on March 26th. They have been taught most of the lessons, and we'll be wrapping up the rest of them during this last week. It's funny, I've only ever taught lesson 5 three times, so every time I teach it I have to study up on it a ton. Most people don't get all the way to lesson 5!
But John and Karisha are doing super good. She has a problem with the Word of Wisdom that she's getting over, but it's not too serious. They love meeting with us, and have some good friends in the ward. Both John and Karisha, and another couple in the branch ( the Manuels) LOVE WWE wrestling! They're a super great match.
Went on Exchanges in Lubbock this week. Not super great. We ended up staying in Odessa the night before ( Long Story ) and the Zone leaders were on exchanges somewhere else, so we stayed in some random missionaries' apartment without them. We walked into the apartment, and laying on the kitchen table was the largest arsenal of nerf guns I had ever seen. I mean, bow and arrow nerf weapons, automatic ones, pistols, guns that light up, and they even had two pistols mounted above their fireplace! Missionaries...
The next day (Wednesday) we met the assistants in Seminole, TX and they brought us up to Lubbock. We spent all day on campus Bench Finding. Bench Finding is how you find on Tech. You go find a cool, shaded bench, and sit on it. Then, you wait til someone walks by and you try to start a conversation with them. It's the easiest place to find investigators in the world! We were also going to try basketball tracting. You walk up to a bunch of hoodlums playing ball, and challenge them to a game. After you beat them, you try to start a gospel conversation. It was a cool experience, and a super different kind of missionary work over there, but I felt like the assistants were so rushed, we didn't get to go over very much about what we learned or anything. Whatevs, it was good overall.
Also got to go to institute on Campus with Elder Stringham (the assistant) and one of our investigators on campus. I sat next to the mission president's daughter and it was super strange being in a class with people my age. I'm used to teaching a bunch of old Mexican couples here in Ft. Stockton.
Friday morning we were back in Ft. Stockton, and the Wells invited us over for our weekly pancake breakfast. I'm going to miss them a ton.
After church on Sunday a new couple in our ward accidentally locked both of their keys in their car, and we were stuck there for like an hour trying to break into the car. My comp from Utah was the one who eventually broke in. He got a wire hanger, and levered the door open until he could fit the hanger in. He maneuvered the hanger over to the lock, and pulled it open. Skillz.
Well, crazy situation today, an elder in an area of my zone has a problem and needs to be emergency transferred out of his area. He'll be switching spots with Elder Allen, my current comp, and will be here in Ft. Stockton with me for at least a couple of days. It could be longer. Crazy last minute switch...
Well gotta go, love y'all! Have a blessed week.
