Amarillo

Alright, new week, new zone, new companion, new ward.

P-day in Ft. Stockton was lame... I packed, saw a few members... and got ready to leave.

Tuesday was a crazy long day. We woke up at around 5:30 ish, and I finished packing, and then we drove an hour and a half up to Odessa. We helped run the transfer sight at the Odessa Stake Center for a few hours, and then the transfer van came. We helped unload the van and trailer (Full of Luggage and Bikes) and then reloaded it with other missionary's stuff. We then drove to Lubbock, dropped off some missionaries, and repeated the process. I gave a quick hug to a few of my old comps in Lubbock, and then got back on the bus with a bunch of stinky elders. We then drove two hours to Amarillo, TX. We helped unload the van and trailer for the last time, and then we were off to an appointment!!!

My new comp is Elder Holtman. He is from Malta, Idaho (Wherever that is) and he's been out about 10 months. He grew up on a ranch, so he is preparing me for my future life as a cattle rancher. It was an inspired change lol. We're super good friends already... things are good.

We've taught a good amount of lessons this week... still not super familiar with our teaching pool, but we have a bunch of assignments from the ward right now to contact unknown people on the roster. So we take our Dodge Van that we've been assigned to use, and we've been driving ALL over the city to contact these people.

Thursday night the Panhandle Zone Leaders came down and stayed with us, and then drove us to Lubbock the next morning in time for the Missionary Leadership Counsel meeting. We all met and discussed topics, received instruction, and got to hear from President Heap. We will use these topics in our Zone Training tomorrow, and teach them to the rest of the missionaries. Friday night, we packed up all of our zone's supplies in the bed of the truck and drove back. We got stuck in a hail storm, so while we were trying to find some cover, elder Holtman and I were scrambling to get our supplies in the truck before the hail and rain destroyed them all. We pulled most of the supplies in through the back window, and all was good.

Saturday we prepared assignments for Zone Training, and we've been scrambling to prepare instructions for the three hour-long meeting tomorrow.

Church was good. The building here is so nice and big compared to Historical Ft. Stockton. I do miss that place though. Afterwards, we had dinner with bishop. I love him and his family. Something I learned on my mission is that if there's any work that's going to be done in an area, it has to be done through the bishop and ward mission leader. They're the ones with the authority, so if you want something done, you better be best friends with them.

Today, we get to go play some BALL!!! There are a good 5 sets of missionaries in the city here, so hopefully we get some basketball or something going.

Love y'all,

 Elder Johnson
