Cadillac Ranch

Week 93

Busy Week... what happened...

We were so worn out from mountain biking last Monday that we pushed through the rest of the day and I slept like a baby.

Temperature in our apartment:
Weekly high - 89 degrees
Weekly low - 86 degrees

Tuesday we went to Canyon and attended a District Meeting there. We then took the district leader and his comp on exchanges. We taught  a good amount of lessons, and then finished the exchange up on Wednesday. Out of our 27 teaching appointments this week, we taught a total of 18 of them. Everyone else wasn't home... it's a struggle.

We did lots of knocking on Thursday, and some real boring weekly planning. Ugh. Things get boring.

Friday we did service at the Botanical Gardens here in Amarillo. It's a pretty sweet place. I ran the tiller, and we shoveled lots of dirt. Nothin' like shovelin' dirt. Out of our 7 appointments on Friday, we only ended up teaching two of them because everyone else bailed... super frustrating. We're no longer teaching anyone SUPER consistently...but we do set up lots of appointments and get a good amount of work done.

Saturday I was taken to breakfast by Matt Burton and his kids who were coming through Amarillo on the way to Vegas. He had been living with my family while working in Vegas, so it was super fun to hear from him and to hear how my family was doing. And the food was really good.
Then we had our correlation meeting, and had a few appointments cancel, and then we did service for an old man who can't clean his house because of health problems. We occasionally take an hour out of our day to go help him. It's a humbling experience.

Sunday was good. The sacrament is always sooo refreshing. We did a bunch of knocking too.

Monday (today) has been good thus far. We drove to Walmart after studies, bought spray paint, and drove out to the Cadillac Ranch. It's a field just outside of town where someone has buried 10 cadillacs halfway into the ground at an angle. It's a tradition to go out there and spraypaint the cars... idk why... but people just do. So we went out there and got our tag on. It was a lot of fun. It was a good change of schedule.

Things are good. It's scary how little time I have left. I feel like I just barely am starting to get the hang of all of it. Transfer calls are Saturday... We're working hard, and being obedient. Blessing are sure to follow. Love y'all,

Elder Johnson
