This week has been one for the books. I wanted to give y'all a bio o my other comp, Elder Sommer.
E Sommer is a Spanish missionary that plans on continuing his career as an amateur competitive gamer when he returns home from the mission. He studied computer skillz at school and wants to be an IT guy when he grows up. Frequently, he yells acronyms or phrases at me that come from a video game that I don't understand. So I yell at him in Spanish, which makes him mad because I'm an English missionary and have served in more Spanish areas than him lol. We get along really well. Most of the time. He has serious foot odor most evenings when we get back into the apartment. He's made me gag multiple times. IT's a work in progress.
EXCHANGES were this week with the ZONE OVERLORDS. HAha it was fun. This is the first transfer that I've actually liked my zone leaders. I went to a Spanish area for the day and we taught like 2 lessons. We had appointments across the city, so we spent most of the day driving. One of the lessons we taught was to a black man named Emaniceli. He was high as a kite ((((: Baked out of his mind. Everything I said to him, HE'd just smile back and laugh... no sure how much he got out of the lesson...
Bike Day this week was another success! We biked a few more miles than we did last week, and mijo (My trainee elder Lake) only crashed twice haha. Once right in front of me, and once on a bridge in Tech campus. Poor kid... He's getting better though(: We had some bad words yelled at us while riding by a freeway, and I'm not sure if he had ever heard those words before (:
Most of our investigators at this point have serious word of wisdom problems... (BIg Surprise) and aren't progressing towards baptism... we're working hard to drop the ones who aren't willing to change and find new ones who are.
This week, something happened that has never happened to me before, and probably will never happen again. I had the craziest bash in the world. In case y'all are unfamiliar with bible bashing, here's a def.:
A religious person who is obsessivily you could say, and insanely into his or her religion. They tend to 'bash on' about their religion and try to feed it to you. No disrespect to their religious beliefs, but knowing a bible basher can somtimes get sticky. They tend to be very preotective over their religion, and know nearly everything about it. They will argue the point, and during times of bashing, can become quite violent.
Bible bashing is a popular past time here in Texas... anyways...
We went contacting one evening, hoping to find some new investigators, and we came up to this guy named James. James was a good dude... baptist by birth and was happily having a conversation with us about prophets. We were quickly interrupted by a black man holding a huge KJV bible walking down the sidewalk... He introduced himself as a missionary from the church of Christ, and began to bash with us. Quoting scriptures from the new Testament and trying to tell us we need to leave the church... We defended ourselves with our knowledge of the old testament, and before we could paint this guy into any corners, James' neighbor walks out of his front door. This man is wearing a shirt that says: CHRISTIANITY: BAD RELIGION in bright red letters. He is a Jewish man and approaches us and starts yelling at us. He passes out anti christian literature to all of us and joins in the bash. Before we could say anything, a few girls walk outside of the house across the street, and join in on the bash as well. These women are typical happy/friendly baptist women. They don't really bash, all they do is yell Hallelujah or AMEN any time one of us says Jesus. We look around and realizwe that our friend James has walked off and is nowhere to be found. Amidst the quoting of the N.T. from our Church of Christ friend, the rustling of anti being passed out from our Jewish friend, and the Hallelujahs in the background from the Baptist women, I notice that my poor trainee is clutching his Book of Mormon so hard, he's creasing the pages. He has gone into shock... I look at my trainnee in the eyes, and tell him," Take it in Mijo, welcome to West Texas"

Love Y'all!!
